Emotional Sport Inventory (ESi)

The ESi is an athletic assessment for emotional intelligence.  This report is designed to provide recruiters with a comprehensive interpretation of Jack’s emotional intelligence skills and the impact on Jacks’ sporting success. The report includes: a validity scale, a global Emotional Intelligence score; and Jack’s scores on 10 emotional and social competencies linked to effective sporting performance.  They are: Self-Awareness, Self-Confidence, Self-Reliance, Achievement Drive, Competitiveness, Resilience, Focus, Self-Control, Flexibility, Optimism. 

Self- Awareness Skill

Jack’s results indicate that he has the ability to recognize and express his thoughts and emotions and understand how these affect his performance. Emotionally intelligent athletes are aware of their emotional experience and understand how their underlying motivations and beliefs impact their performance. Jack demonstrates the capacity to tune-in to the messages his body is constantly sending and recognize how this feelings and emotions impact on his personal attitudes and judgments.

Competitiveness Skill

Jack’s report indicates he is competitive and motivated to succeed. Jack appears to enjoy the sporting contest and is able to direct his abilities and energies toward achieving specific goals. Emotionally intelligent athletes possess a strong drive to achieve personally meaningful goals. Jack demonstrates knowledge specific goals he desires to accomplish and is energized by the stimulus of pushing himself outside of his comfort zone to take on new challenges.

Resilience Skill

Jack’s results indicate that he is reasonably comfortable under pressure, and he can generally bounce back from setbacks. It is important that he continue to build his resilience by remaining fully focused on the tasks in front of him and be determined in his belief that he can achieve his competition goals. Emotionally intelligent athletes cope effectively with major setbacks, pain, and disappointment in sport. Jack has developed a strong will to succeed and a capacity to maintain a positive, personal vision of what can be achieved. Jack appears determined to succeed and has the ability to bounce back from performance setbacks by focusing on the task ahead rather than the negative emotions.
